The Board / List switch sits next to the wordmark, because it answers “how do I look at my work”, not “what do I filter”. Narrow screens always get the list. Light and dark are a full second palette, applied before first paint.

A right-hand panel for the day’s micro-tasks: type, press Enter, click once to complete. Hiding it lives in the panel’s own header; the toolbar offers it back. On a phone it becomes the first section of the list.
Guest mode is your browser only. An account adds background sync — designed so a stale device, a failed request, or two devices in use at once cannot cost you work.

Every change is timestamped
Each task, column, checklist item and project records when it changed, against the server’s clock — never a device’s wrong one, and never running backwards.

Copies are merged, never replaced
Two devices that touched different things both keep their work. Only an edit to the same thing picks a winner. Deletes stick, unless you kept editing after the delete — then it comes back.

The server refuses stale writes
A write that has not seen the latest copy is rejected; the client merges what came back and retries. Two devices racing cannot both win.

Encrypted on the server
Your board is sealed before it’s stored — task titles, deadlines, checklist items and project names go to the database as AES-256-GCM ciphertext. The keys live apart from the data, so a leaked backup or database dump is not a leaked board.
The status pill reports honestly rather than always claiming Synced.
